Kay W.
Why did you start volunteering?
“Not long after I retired I found that I had a lot of spare time on my hands, and that I missed interacting with people. I started volunteering in the Homebound program here at Lakes Region Library. I truly enjoy delivering books to people who are unable to come to the library.”
Has volunteering changed how you see the library?
“I am not an avid reader, but enjoy putting the books in the correct spot. After I started volunteering I saw how much the library has to offer. There is something for everyone!”
What’s been one of your favorite volunteer moments?
“By far, helping with the children’s summer program! I looked forward to seeing how much they enjoyed the variety of activities each week and of course interacting with them. When my children were little I helped with Girl Scouts, so this brought back great memories.”
What’s something you would say to encourage someone else to volunteer?
“I have found volunteering to be very fulfilling for me. You meet new people, you discover new interests, and you give back to your community.”
