Judy M.

Lakes Region Branch

Why did you start volunteering?

“When I was studying to be a teacher, the library proved to be an invaluable aid to me and continued to do so after I got my degree. Upon retiring, I wanted to return the favor.”

Has volunteering changed how you see the library?

“Yes, volunteering has allowed me to see all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Also, due to a presentation I attended at the library, I learned about the multitude of services that the library provides to our community.”

What’s been one of your favorite volunteer moments?

“My favorite moments are when I’m tutoring another adult in basic reading and writing skills. Helping someone to achieve a goal is a great feeling.”

What’s something you would say to encourage someone else to volunteer?

“How could we ever achieve anything in our lives if we didn’t have the help and support of others? We need to spread our blessings around, using whatever gifts we have been given in life, to enrich the lives of others.”
