Coastal Region Branch
Why did you start volunteering?
“I am now retired and wanted to work with books by increasing my knowledge of topics and authors. I thought it would help my cognitive skills and memory as I am not as active now.”
Has volunteering changed how you see the library? “The library is such a fun place to browse and keep up on activities in the community and a nice shelter to come to get away it all.”
What’s been one of your favorite volunteer moments?
“I do like sorting and filing the books as it keeps my mind going but watching the people and children enjoy what the library has to offer.”
What’s something you would say to encourage someone else to volunteer?
“In my age group (retired) I would say it is an opportunity to stay active, interact with knowledge we sometimes forget from the working world. As someone who hated to read most of my life it opens up a whole new lifestyle and enjoyment.”
