Volunteer Spotlight March 2025
Every month, the Citrus County Library System features a volunteer in their “Outside the Stacks” blog on their website. This month, Central Ridge Library would like to shine the spotlight on Penny. We asked Penny several questions and thought it would be fun to share her responses!

Penny
Q: Why did you start volunteering?
A: I began volunteering after I retired from teaching. I volunteered with another organization for a few years. Then I decided to try something different.
Q: How long have you been volunteering with the library?
A: 3 ½ years
Q: What inspired you to volunteer with the library?
A: I decided to volunteer at the library because I love books and I like to organize. Also, it is an opportunity to help with the children’s programs.
Q: Who is your favorite author?
A: I enjoy reading books by David Baldacci, John Grisham and James Patterson. I like legal and police procedurals. I also like historical fiction.
Q: Other than volunteering, what do you like to do with your free time?
A: I play piano, read, and attend Bible studies. I also enjoy going out to eat with friends and spending time with my grandchildren.
Q: Tell us about your best vacation ever.
A: One of my best vacations was the year my husband and I and the kids and grandkids rented a house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where we enjoyed the beach, explored the area, and watched Fourth of July fireworks over the beach from our balcony.
