Seasonal Events
The Libraries host special seasonal events that happen throughout the year. Have fun during school breaks with our Spring Break and Summer Reading programs, sign up for a library card during library card sign-up month, or get support with your writing during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). We have programs throughout the year for all ages.
Earth Day
Come celebrate our planet with a day of great ways to give back to the Earth!
National Library Week
In April, the Libraries host an ever changing variety of programs and events during national Library week. Meet the Friends of the Library, get crafty with our creative programs, or learn about the services that the Libraries offer during this week.
Summer Reading Program
Each summer, from June and July, the Libraries host a Summer Reading Program for all ages. Each week enjoy programs catered around a central theme. Track your reading progress and enjoy incentives for reading throughout the summer! Find out more on the Summer Reading page.
Celebration of Flag Day
In June, come to the Library to celebrate Flag Day! Learn about the history behind one of our nation’s greatest symbols, make patriotic crafts and do activities courtesy of the Daughters of the American Resolution (DAR). At the Floral City Branch, take a stroll through the linear park and view all fifty state flags on display.
C4Con
You’re invited to come to the Homosassa Library each year for the Citrus County Comics & Cosplay Convention! Show off your costuming skills with workshops and contests, attend panels on geeky subjects, and get photos with guests. There’s vendors with geeky items for sale, crafts and activities throughout the Library, and raffle prizes!
Library Card Sign-up Month
In September, celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month at your Library! Sign up for your first card or update your current one, and enjoy all the services the libraries offer, all year round.
Constitution Week
In September, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) distribute information about the U.S Constitution. Kids can pick up a patriotic word search, crossword puzzle, or coloring sheet to do at the library or at home. Learn about the Constitutions history, and how this document stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights.
Friends of the Library Month
October is Friends of the Library Month! The entire month is dedicated to thanking our Friends for all that they do in supporting the Citrus County Library System. Come to the Library to get information on how to become a Friend and information on the book sales that they host throughout the year.
