Paleoecology: Understanding Dinosaur Behavior with Archeologist Jack Blackburn
Dinosaurs have captured the human imagination for years, it doesn’t matter if you’re a kid carry a plastic T-Rex through the museum or an adult watching a velociraptor in the Jurassic Park movies. But how do we know everything we do about these creatures? Understanding animals nobody has ever seen alive can seem like total guesswork. However, insightful research on the fossil material and study of modern animals can shed light on how the bygone beasts lived and acted. You’ll find that the comparison and contrast with popular culture depictions can be surprising!
Join archeologist and Museum of Dinosaurs and Cultures director Jack Blackburn, sponsored by the Science Education and Training Support (SETS) Foundation, for a look into the world of dinosaurs. Learn about how archeologists uncover the intricacies their behavior and lives. Those interested in learning more about this subject will have two chances on Tuesday, December 5 to take a deeper dive into this field of research. Jack will be making his first presentation at the Coastal Region branch in Crystal River starting at 10:30 AM, with his second following at the Central Ridge branch in Beverly Hills that afternoon beginning at 1:30 PM. Seating is limited and registration is required for each program. Please register with our online calendar, in person, or by calling your local library branch.
