Libraries Partner with Toys for Tots for 2022 Holiday Season
This year, Citrus Libraries was delighted to once again partner with Marine Toys for Tots to assist in distributing books to children in the community. Citrus County Toys for Tots Coordinator, Paul Pilny, learned that they would be receiving more than 1700 new books to go to children during the holidays.
This year, Citrus Libraries also enlisted the help of the Citrus County Education Foundation and the Family Resource Center of Citrus County. With their assistance, the books have been distributed to local volunteers working to put together gifts for children in need. “In early December the Citrus County Education Foundation put us in contact with some of our local Publix associates. We were able to give them more than 800 books to be added to their local gift distribution efforts for families in Citrus County,” said Library Director Eric C. Head. “We are very thankful to once again be working with Paul [Pilny] and Toys for Tots to continue fostering a love of reading, especially during the holiday season. And, it was a pleasure to be joined by these USMC Veterans to celebrate the yearly donation.” In addition to Publix, library staff delivered the remaining books to the Citrus County Family Resource Center in Hernando, to be used as a portion of their “Adopt a Child” program for this holiday season.
Toys for Tots has been spreading happiness and hope during the holiday season since 1947, and currently serves more than 850 communities across the country.
