Citrus Libraries partners with Daughters of the American Revolution for Flag Day Celebration
Tuesday, June 14th is Flag Day, a day that will be celebrated by many throughout the country. But what are the origins of Flag Day? What is flag code? Who made the first flag? Join Citrus Libraries in partnership with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Fort Cooper Chapter to learn the answers to these questions and much more. The DAR will be present at each branch from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM sharing flag information, word searches, and puzzles for all ages.
Do you think you’ll need some extra patriotic décor in your home? In addition to informational tables and puzzles both the Homosassa and Coastal Region branches will be holding craft programs that will add that extra pop to your Flag Day party.
From 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM the Homosassa branch will be making Clothespin Flag Wreaths. Hang your finished product from your door or wall for everyone to see. Seating is limited and registration is required. Please register with the online calendar, in person, or by calling (352) 628-5626.
At the Coastal Region Library, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, you will have the opportunity to make a Patriotic Flower Bouquet. Create stunning red, white, and blue roses that can be used for any patriotic holiday.
These programs are free and available to everyone. For additional information about programming, please call your local library branch, go to the library’s website, citruslibraries.org, or follow Citrus Libraries on Facebook and Instagram at @CitrusLibraries.
