Citrus Libraries Brings Cultural Events to County

April is shaping up to be a month of cultural events for Citrus Libraries. Many of our branches will be hosting speakers throughout the month to inform and enrich the public.

On Tuesday, April 19 at 2:00 PM at the Lakes Region branch enjoy an afternoon of conversation with artists German I. Boettcher and Roger J Dobronyi. They will talk about and show how they have two different styles with one common goal: Art. Their works will also be on display on the Lakes Region branch art wall for the month of April.

You will have two opportunities to meet author Maxim Furek. The first will be on Wednesday, April 20 at 10:30 AM at the Lakes Region branch, and the other will be on Friday, April 22 at the Coastal Region branch. The author will discuss his book Sheppton: The Myth, Miracle & Music. Mr. Furek’s book investigates themes of the supernatural that occurred during the deadly 1963 Sheppton mining disaster. The book also explores the alleged miracle by Pope John XXIII and Sheppton rescue technology that saved 33 miners in a Chilean copper mine as documented in the film “The 33.”

Pete Mehrmann will be returning to the Homosassa branch for an encore presentation of “Guitar Hour” on Friday, April 22 at 12:00 PM. An accomplished musician, Pete has spent the last two decades designing and building his own guitars from recycled materials. Anyone interested on music, wood crafting, and upcycling will surely enjoy this presentation!

On Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 AM the Daughters of the American Revolution, Fort Cooper, will give a presentation about their service to America in Historical Preservation, Education, and Patriotism, for the last 15 years. Attendees can learn more about the local DAR and how they have been involved in the community. They will also have a display in the Lakes Region branch for the month of April.

These library programs are free and open to everyone. For additional information about these events you can go to the library’s website, citruslibraries.org. Additional information about programs and events can also be found online by following Citrus Libraries on Facebook.
