Celebrating Earth Day, the Library Way!

Earth Day may not be as big a holiday as New Year’s Eve or Christmas, but that’s no reason it shouldn’t be just as fun! Each year on April 22nd the world comes together to celebrate our planet and draw attention to environmental protection issues. This day can be celebrated in many ways with upcycled crafting, education, or gardening. Join Citrus Libraries as we recognize Earth Day as only the library can! All programs listed below will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024.

Lakes Region Branch: Send a custom card to a friend with a special “Trendy Trees” cardmaking class. Attendees will use stamping and other techniques to show the wonder of nature. Class begins at 10:30AM and requires registration.

Central Ridge Branch: It wouldn’t be Earth Day without plants! Join other plant lovers at this Plant Swap starting at 2:00PM. Bring plants from your garden to swap with the plant of your dreams from someone else’s!

Coastal Region Branch: Join Linda Wilinski at 5:30PM for her “Introduction to Conservation Photography” presentation. Linda will share how a camera lens can become a powerful tool to create impactful stories about the world around us.

Homosassa Branch: Sustainability is a fantastic way to ensure that our environment thrives for years to come. One often overlooked resource is our daily food waste. Enjoy a special presentation by Citrus Solid Waste Management and UF/IFAS beginning at 5:30PM to learn how this waste can be harnessed and reduced.

Library programs are free and open to the public. For more information about these programs, please visit our online calendar at attend.citruslibraries.org/events or call your local library branch.
