Celebrate National Library Week with Citrus Libraries!
Beginning on Sunday, April 7 and running through Saturday, April 13, libraries across the country will be partaking in the annual celebration of “National Library Week”! This year’s theme “Ready, Set, Library” focuses around the central idea that libraries are the green light for engagement. Community members are encouraged daily to engage in the truly amazing services and opportunities that are offered at their library.
In a year that has seen many changes and growth for Citrus Libraries, there are a few things that stand out above the rest. In the Fall of 2023, the Lakes Region Library began a multi-month renovation project that has really taken shape in the last few weeks with the additional study and meeting spaces that are being built. A new initiative, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, launched in October 2023. There are already children who have completed the challenge, and many more who are working steadily toward the finish line. In January of this year, the long-anticipated opportunity to stream digital content via Kanopy was met with excitement from many of our patrons. With more than 2,000 checkouts to date, Kanopy has already shown that patrons are continually looking for digital content to access.
National Library Week is the perfect opportunity for patrons and community members to highlight the valuable role that libraries, library staff, volunteers and Friends play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. Everyone is encouraged to show their support and appreciation for Citrus Libraries by signing up for a library card, visiting their nearest branch, and sharing about their favorite library memories on social media.
Throughout the week, all five branches will be featuring not only their regular programming, but also special events that will celebrate the variety of opportunities available to patrons of all ages.
