Bees and Bats and Birds—Oh My!: Beekeeping and Florida’s Pollinators

Pollinators are a vital part of a plant’s life cycle and here in Florida, that’s no exception. The honeybee in particular is vital to maintaining Florida’s agriculture, and we should all be invested in keeping those populations healthy and well sustained, not just for ourselves but for the future of Florida’s food supply.

On September 20th, Steven Davis from the UF/IFAS Extension Office will be giving a talk about beekeeping and basic husbandry at the Lakes Region Library in Inverness at 1:00 PM. This workshop will discuss bee biology, life cycles, colony disorders, and honeybee nutrition among other important topics that anyone interested in keeping bees should know, but don’t worry—no bees will be invited!

Library programs are free and available to everyone! However, seating is limited and registration is required. Please register online using our calendar or by visiting the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program on Eventbrite.
